Firefighters Engage in Wildfire Combat at Lime Ridge, Concord
On September 30, a vegetation fire broke out in Lime Ridge Open Space, a popular open space area located between Concord and Walnut Creek, frequently visited by hikers and nature enthusiasts.
The exact cause of the fire is currently under investigation. The incident was reported at 3:06 p.m. by a driver who noticed smoke, and it quickly escalated into a 2-alarm fire.
Firefighters from Contra Costa County and CAL FIRE, including Engine 322, were on the scene to combat the blaze. Engine 322 confirmed that the fire had spread to about one acre upon arrival.
Despite the potential for the fire to grow to over 50 acres, the combined efforts of the firefighters managed to contain it to roughly five acres. No injuries were reported during the fire.
