In the heart of Dresden, on August 30, 2025, the fire department was called to a beeping smoke alarm in a high-rise building on Holbeinstraße, Johannstadt. Between 7:29 PM and 9:11 PM, a total of 42 deployment forces from various stations and duties responded to the scene. However, upon arrival, no initial signs of smoke or fire were visible. A caller had reported seeing smoke on the building's rear side, but a subsequent check found no smoke.

Deployment forces, however, discovered smoke from burnt food and an unconscious person in the affected apartment. The injured individual was transported to a hospital by the rescue service, and in 74 cases, the services of a doctor were required. The apartment was ventilated with an electric fan after the discovery of smoke.

Meanwhile, late Saturday evening, the Dresden Fire Department was called to a burning car on Kirchenweg, Mobschatz. The driver was already receiving medical treatment in an ambulance. After the fire was extinguished, the pile was covered with sand and slag to prevent reignition. No fuel or other fluids entered the ground, as the tank had completely burned out. Foam was used for overhaul as fuel was still leaking.

The police began investigating the cause of the car fire. On the same day, there was also a fire at a recycling company on Maxener Straße, Lockwitz. The fire department used heavy foam to extinguish the flames and a loader to pull apart the burning pile. Crews fought the blaze with a quick-attack line and foam, and "fire out" was reported after a few minutes.

In the past 24 hours, the emergency services in Dresden were alerted 221 times. There were four false alarms triggered by automatic fire alarm systems. Additionally, 16 deployments were for technical assistance, such as supporting traffic accidents, removing spilled hazardous materials, or providing carrying assistance for the rescue service.

Overall, a total of 29 personnel from several stations and units were involved in these incidents. In the face of these challenges, the Dresden emergency services continue to serve the community diligently, ensuring the safety and well-being of its residents.
