In the heart of Chita, on Podgorbunskogo Street, 40, a fire broke out in the historic Schilling House on August 30th, 20XX. This Art Nouveau gem, a unique example in the city, was constructed in 1908 and holds significant cultural value.

The fire was localized to an area of approximately 40 square meters. Two fire stations were promptly deployed to extinguish the blaze, and they successfully managed to put it out. Fortunately, no injuries or fatalities were reported during the incident.

Interestingly, the fire occurred in an uninhabited room of the Schilling House. The building has been abandoned since the late 1980s, having previously experienced a fire in 1991, prior to the fire in 2017, which also occurred at the same address where Rudolf Stefan Schilling, the district supervisor, lived at the beginning of the 20th century.

Despite its past fires, the Schilling House remains standing, offering a new opportunity for its restoration. The new owners will have the chance to take out low-interest loans, the aim of which is to preserve and continue the use of the Schilling House as a monument.

The Schilling House was included in a pilot restoration program in spring 2025 and was later put up for auction. However, search results do not contain any information about who acquired the property in the auction of 2025.

The Schilling House, a federal cultural heritage site, has a rich history. It was built over a century ago and has stood the test of time, even after the recent fire. Despite its past, it continues to be a symbol of Chita's history and architecture.

As the smoke clears and the restoration process begins, the Schilling House stands as a testament to the resilience of historical buildings and the hope for their preservation.
