Fire-Determined Dwelling Uninhabitable Post-Incendiary - Smoke Alarm Intended to Avert Significant House Conflagration

On the evening of September 4, 2025, a fire broke out in a multi-family dwelling located on Bonner Talweg, Bonn, Germany. The incident was reported via two emergency calls at 23:57.

Upon receiving the alerts, numerous emergency services were dispatched to the given address. The command staff, along with the professional fire brigade from all fire stations and the voluntary fire brigade unit Kessenich, quickly mobilised to the scene. A total of 28 emergency service personnel were involved in the operation.

Upon arrival, the affected apartment was engulfed in smoke, making it uninhabitable. To ventilate the apartment and contain the smoke, a high-performance fan was used, and a smoke curtain was installed at the apartment door to prevent smoke from spreading.

The fire was located on the 2nd floor apartment, and the command staff oversaw the operations at the fire scene. The rescue service and the voluntary fire brigade unit Kessenich also contributed to the operations, working diligently to extinguish the fire.

Fortunately, the smoke alarm in the building woke up the residents, preventing a larger apartment fire. All other residents were able to return to their apartments after the completion of the operations.

Around 1:30 AM, the "fire out" message was given, and the scene was handed over to the police for cause determination. The Bonner Talweg was closed to traffic in the area of the incident.

It is unclear during the call whether there were still residents or pets in the affected apartment. The search results do not provide the name of the head of the emergency medical service (Rettungsdienst) in Bonn who received the fire alarm on 04.09.2025 at 23:57.

This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of having functional smoke alarms and the quick response of the emergency services in ensuring the safety of the community.
