Fire department successfully puts out blaze in subterranean parking lot involving charred automobiles.

In the early hours of Sunday morning, a fire broke out in the underground garage of a residential complex in Otto-Hahn-Straße, Bergheim-Zieverich, Germany. The Bergheim Fire Department was promptly alerted by the district control center and dispatched over 30 personnel from professional and volunteer units Bergheim, Glesch/Paffendorf, Thorr, Oberaußem, Quadrath-Ichendorf, and Ahe to the scene.

Upon arrival, the fire department found two cars fully ablaze, three others with developing fires, and four additional cars damaged by heat. Acting quickly, the fire department successfully prevented further spread of the fire, and the affected vehicles were extinguished and partially covered with foam.

The smoke from the fire spread to an apartment in the affected building, but thankfully, no injuries were reported during the incident. The fire department concluded the operation around 03:30, and the underground garage was thoroughly ventilated to ensure the safety of the residents.

The Bergheim Fire Department has confirmed that the operation was led by B-Duty Officer Reinhold Koch. However, at the time of writing, the name of the leader of the fire command (Einsatzleitung) is not available.
