Fire department given fire safety equipment by provincial authority in NRW
In a bid to enhance fire safety awareness among the elderly population, the Association of Fire Departments in NRW (VdF NRW) and Provinzial have joined forces to develop and distribute fire safety kits.
These kits, which can be reached at Windhukstraße 80, 42277 Wuppertal, serve as an essential tool for adult fire safety education. Each kit consists of a sturdy trolley filled with information and exhibition materials.
Christoph Dohr, head of the main department for damage prevention and risk assessment at Provinzial, emphasizes the importance of partnering with fire departments to raise awareness of potential risks in daily life. He believes that these collaborative efforts will go a long way in ensuring the safety of the most vulnerable members of our society.
The contents of the fire safety kit are suitable for both older and younger people. They include safety signs, smoke and CO2 detectors, fire extinguisher spray, and an emergency box for vital information. The kit also features a stove guard, which warns of fire hazards on the stove and provides additional safety, especially for elderly people with dementia.
Maria Koch, fire safety education and awareness representative at VdF NRW, underscores the importance of intensifying fire safety education for seniors. She notes that as people age, they may react more slowly, have poorer vision and hearing, and may not perceive everyday dangers as easily as they used to.
Provinzial supports the professional work of fire departments by providing these fire safety kits. The insurance company has a long tradition of supporting fire safety education, and this new initiative is a testament to their continued commitment.
Recently, an event was held by VdF NRW in Wuppertal, where fifteen fire safety kits were handed over. Contact information for Maria Koch, who represents VdF NRW for fire safety education and awareness, can be found on their website at http://www.vdf.nrw, or via email at [email protected].
These fire safety kits are a valuable addition to the ongoing efforts to ensure the safety of our communities, particularly for the elderly population who may be more vulnerable to fire hazards. By working together, VdF NRW and Provinzial are making a significant contribution to fire safety education and awareness.
