Fine for Navya Nair amounting to Dh4,700 due to possessing jasmine bouquet in Australia
In a light-hearted turn of events, Malayalam actress Navya Nair found herself in a bit of a pickle at the Melbourne airport recently. The incident occurred when Navya arrived in the city to participate in Onam celebrations organised by the Malayali Association of Victoria.
Navya, who gained recognition through films such as Mazhathullikkilukkum and Kunjikkoonan, made her debut in 2001 with the film Ishtam. She has been active in the entertainment industry for over two decades.
The incident involved around 15 centimetres of jasmine flowers found in Navya's bag, which are prohibited under Australian biosecurity and customs laws. The Australian Department of Agriculture imposed a fine on Navya Nair, but the specific amount remains undisclosed.
Taking the incident in her stride, Navya posted a light-hearted video on her social media platform, captioned "Visuals just before I was fined." The person who dressed Navya Nair in the provocative moments of the video remains undisclosed.
Despite the fine, Navya's Onam celebrations in Melbourne continued, adding to the festive spirit of the occasion. The Malayali Association of Victoria, who organised the celebrations, ensured a memorable experience for all attendees.
