Film actor Jannis Niewöhner honored with a literary award

Jannis Niewöhner, one of Germany's most talented and successful actors of his generation, has been awarded the prestigious Julius-Campe Prize. The prize, endowed with 99 bottles of fine wine and a facsimile of Heinrich Heine's "French States," is presented by the Hoffmann and Campe publishing house to personalities and institutions that have made significant contributions to literary criticism or literary promotion.

Niewöhner (33) gained prominence with the fantasy trilogy "Rubinrot," "Saphirblau," and "Smaragdgrün," but he has since appeared in numerous literary adaptations and box office hits. His impressive repertoire includes "The Confessions of the High-Stakes Player Felix Krull," "Je suis Karl," and Ridley Scott's "Napoleon."

The actor is recognised for bringing literature to screens and making it accessible to a large audience. He has slipped into the roles of leading figures from outstanding literary works in various adaptations.

Currently, Niewöhner is starring in Mia Maariel Meyers' "22 Bahnen." The laudatory speech at the award ceremony for Niewöhner will be given by Caroline Wahl, the author of the novel "22 Bahnen." No additional information about Niewöhner's role in "22 Bahnen" was provided.
