Fibre optic expansion in our organization is proceeding as anticipated – Regional Councillor Tanja Schweiger delivers optimistic initial assessment

In an exciting development, the largest municipal fiber optic infrastructure project in Germany is making visible progress. The Laber-Naab-Infrastructure, an organisation coordinating the efficient expansion of the fiber optic network, is proving to be a reliable implementation partner for municipalities across the region.

The project kicked off in the municipality of Brennberg on April 1, 2025, with a main trunk of around 30 kilometers being created, supplemented by about 7 kilometers of access roads. A total of around 450 connections are planned, and the construction work is progressing according to schedule.

In the neighbouring municipality of Altenthann, construction work began on July 16, 2025, and is proceeding smoothly.

The population is showing high levels of support for this measure, with over 94% of eligible households in the district of Bergmatting, Sinzing, signing connection contracts, and the figure even higher at 96% in the district of Matting in the neighbouring municipality of Pentling.

In Sinzing, expansion is progressing rapidly, with several districts under construction. Approximately 18,500 meters of connection cable and 4,300 meters of access roads have been constructed, and 200 connections have been built. The total length of trunks (paved & unpaved) in Sinzing is 14,000 meters.

70 connection points for line technology (APL) have been mounted and spliced in Sinzing. RenΓ© Meyer, Managing Director of the Laber-Naab-Infrastructure, emphasised that they ensure a sustainable and neighbour-friendly fiber optic rollout through consistent project management, rigorous moderation, and a practical eye on local conditions.

Cooperation with municipalities is excellent, with Landrat Tanja Schweiger highlighting that investments in digital infrastructure are a central future task for the district. Upon the project's completion, Deutsche Telekom will operate it.

Expansion in the district of Matting, Pentling, will begin after the summer break. The Laber-Naab-Infrastructure is managing all measures for the fiber optic expansion in 47 municipalities, demonstrating their commitment to bringing high-speed internet to the region.

The organization coordinating the expansion remains unnamed in the search results provided, but its impact is clear: a digital revolution is taking place in our local communities, and the future looks bright with fast and reliable internet connections for all.
