In the picturesque region of Southern Germany, a significant digital transformation is underway. The Laber-Naab-Infrastructure, a reliable implementation partner for the municipalities, is coordinating the largest municipal fiber optic infrastructure project in Germany. This project, remaining in public hands after completion, is being operated by Deutsche Telekom.

The project, making visible progress, has already seen the construction of 14,000 meters of total trunk (paved & unpaved) in the municipality of Sinzing alone. Over 18,500 meters of connection cable have been blown, and 4,300 meters of fiber optic main cable and 4,300 meters of access roads have been constructed. In Sinzing, empty tubes are being laid for buildings not yet eligible for funding, ensuring future avoidance of excavation work.

The expansion works in Altenthann have begun, and the measure is proceeding according to plan. In the municipality of Sinzing, the expansion is progressing rapidly, with several districts under construction. Over 94% of eligible households in Sinzing have signed a connection contract, indicating the high demand from citizens. The expansion in the district of Matting in the neighboring municipality of Pentling will begin after the summer break.

The project's success is not just due to the technical aspects but also the excellent cooperation with the municipalities. Landrat Tanja Schweiger emphasized that the investments in digital infrastructure are a central future task for the district, supported by the state and federal governments.

The project involves fourteen municipalities coordinated by Laber-Naab-Infrastructure in the districts of Neumarkt and Regensburg. These include Beratzhausen, Berngau, Deuerling, Laaber, Lupburg, Pentling, Sinzing, Ihrlerstein, Pilsach, Seubersdorf, Schierling, Unterhinkofen, Wenzenbach, and Zell.

In the municipality of Brennberg, the expansion is already in full swing, with a main trunk of around 30 kilometers being created and about 7 kilometers of access roads. Approximately 450 connections will be realized here.

By the end of July, 200 connections have been built, marking a significant step towards a more connected future for these communities. The Laber-Naab-Infrastructure ensures swift, sustainable, and resident-friendly implementation of fiber optic expansion through consistent project management, rigorous moderation, and a practical eye on local conditions. The comprehensive fiber optic expansion is indeed making visible progress, transforming the digital landscape of Southern Germany.
