Fewer Swiss children wrote to Santa Claus in 2025's holiday season

Swiss Post has delivered another busy season for the Christmas Angel and Santa Claus. During Advent, they processed just over 31,000 letters from children across Switzerland. This year's total marked a slight drop compared to 2024.

The final count reached 31,034 letters—a decrease of around 700 from the previous year. This represents a two percent decline in the number of children writing to Santa or the Christkind.

Schools also took part, sending in 376 wish lists on behalf of 6,577 pupils. While no figures exist for regional participation, the letters showed clear language trends. French-speaking Switzerland accounted for 60 percent of the total. German-speaking areas contributed 20 percent, with Ticino making up the remaining 20 percent.

The 2025 results confirm a small but noticeable dip in letters. Swiss Post continues to support the tradition, ensuring every child's message reaches Santa or the Christkind. No data was released on which cantons or schools were most active this year.
