Festivities in Gerresheim, Dusseldorf: The local young women ("Mädels") aptly relish in their celebrations
In the heart of Düsseldorf-Gerresheim, the Gerresheimer Bürgerwehr hosted an unforgettable carnival event on February 16, 2025. The community hall of the Protestant Church echoed with laughter, applause, and the infectious spirit of the carnival.
The evening began with a captivating performance by Lieselotte Lotterlappen, who led a multi-voiced choir in a medley of songs including "Bella Ciao," "Leev Marie," "Sweet Caroline," and "Bickendorfer Büdchen." The audience was immediately enchanted, with many unable to resist the rhythm and standing on their chairs to dance.
The energy in the hall reached new heights as the KG Regenbogen took the stage. The girls, brimming with excitement, couldn't be held back, swaying and dancing in unison. The Gentlemen of the Fauth Dance Company followed, causing an ecstasy that swept through the crowd.
A surprise performance came from an artist who combined the styles of Taylor Swift, Desiree Nick, and Benjamin Blümchen. Singing "Bella Ciao," they captivated the audience with their unique blend of pop and carnival spirit.
Prince Andreas I. and Princess Evelyn added a touch of royalty to the evening, performing their session song "Düsseldorf Helau." The song, which contains a whopping 33 "Helau"s, was sung back enthusiastically by the audience. The Ladies' Session of the Gerresheimer Bürgerwehr is renowned for its exuberant atmosphere and joyful carnival.
Entertainment was provided by ventriloquist Tim Becker and his rabbit, adding a touch of humour to the evening. The evening's festivities culminated in an obligatory order ceremony, during which a lady in the hall was surprised with a Prince and Princess's order.
The audience was carried through the hall by a wave of enthusiasm during the performances by the Rhythm Sports Group, Swinging Funfares, and Alt Schuss. The night ended on a high note, leaving the audience eager for more.
