Compostela, Davao de Oro, recently celebrated its 77th Araw ng Compostela and the 19th Buganihan Festival, a six-day extravaganza that showcased the municipality's rich culture, progressive vision, and shared determination to rise to greater heights.

The celebration, themed "Level Up sa Kalamboan," began with a motorcade and Youth Day on July 27. The grand finale on August 1 included a Thanksgiving Mass, Closing Program, Congressional and Governor's Night featuring Cup of Joe, a fireworks display, and a rave party.

The festival was more than just a cultural event; it was a celebration of Compostelans' identity, rooted in cooperation and working together for the common good. The 19th Buganihan Festival served as a testament to the municipality's resilience, as stated by Compostela Municipal Mayor Levi S. Ebdao.

All 16 barangays of Compostela participated in the Agro-Trade Fair, transforming their booths into colorful displays of agricultural abundance, creativity, and enterprise. The Agro-Trade Fair was a significant part of the festival, showcasing local produce, crafts, and innovations for a week.

The festival also featured events that honoured Compostela's roots, such as "Al'law ng Kalumonan," a Tribal Celebration Day held on the second day of the festival to celebrate the indigenous heritage of Compostela. Women took center stage on Women's Day, while the Motorshow was a feature on July 30.

The Night of Worship was a highlight during the celebration, characterized by unity and faith. The Fabulous Educators Night was a touching event that honoured Compostela's devoted mentors and instructors.

The Binibining Compostela 2025 Grand Coronation Night, featuring guest singer Wilbert Ross, celebrated beauty and grace on July 31. The Buganihan Gay Queen 2025 pageant and a special appearance by Pinoy Big Brother housemate Angel Saycon were the highlights of the LGBTQ+ Night celebration.

During the "Handog Titulo" on the third day of the festival, land titles were distributed, and a jobs fair was held. Government services were also provided during the Serbisyo Caravan.

The celebration was a collaborative display of pride and heritage, bringing together residents, guests, and leaders. The 19th Buganihan Festival reminded people that no progress is possible without unity, without compassion, and without participation.
