Festivities at the Mountain Vineyard kick off this coming Saturday.

The much-anticipated 87th Bergstraße Wine Festival is set to take place in Bensheim from Saturday, August 7th, to September 14th. This 28-day celebration of wine, food, and community spirit promises an unforgettable experience for all.

The festival will officially commence at 6 pm on the market square, with Mayor Christine Klein opening the event with salute shots and a marching band. The traditional parade, with the motto "Bergstraße Wine and Sociable People - Together We Celebrate Our Wine Festival", will follow at 2 pm.

The parade route includes Carl-Orff-Straße, Darmstadt Straße, Rodensteinstraße, Promenaden- and Bahnhofstraße, Neckarstraße, and back to Rodensteinstraße. Live music will accompany the parade, setting the festive tone for the evening.

Once the parade concludes, the festival grounds will come alive with approximately 50 wine and food stands, offering a diverse selection of local wines and delicious culinary delights. Approximately 25 rides and sales stands will also be located on the festival grounds, providing entertainment and shopping opportunities for festival-goers.

For those planning to stay late, the "Night Owl" bus service will be available. This service, which travels through Bensheim's districts, Heppenheim, Alsbach, Lindenfels, and the Riedgemeinden, will operate based on regular bus fares.

During the festival, live music will be performed every evening, adding to the festive atmosphere. The highlight of the event will be the crowning of the new wine princess, Chiara Fischer, during the official opening ceremony on Saturday, September 6, 2025. Chiara, who hails from Groß-Umstadt, was passed her crown by the outgoing regional wine queen, Katja Simon, during the festival.

The Bergstraße Wine Festival is more than just a celebration of wine; it's a celebration of community, tradition, and the spirit of the Bergstraße region. So, mark your calendars and get ready to join in the festivities!
