Volksfest Hemau 2025: A Five-Day Celebration of Bavarian Culture

Get ready for a lively and entertaining experience as the small town of Hemau prepares to host its annual Volksfest from the 1st to the 5th of next month.

Food and drink will be a highlight of the festival, with Greller Catering from Willenhofen serving up traditional Bavarian delicacies and hearty snacks. For those seeking a caffeine boost, a wine tent will offer coffee and homemade cakes in the afternoons from Sunday to Tuesday. Local kitchen operators and caterers from the Hemau region will be responsible for the catering, although specific names have not yet been revealed.

Entertainment will be abundant, with musical performances from various acts throughout the festival. On Friday, "Spitz af Knopf" will take the stage after the beer tapping ceremony by Mayor Herbert Tischhofer. The wine tent will feature performances by "Bayernkapelle Toni Schmid", "Knoepferlblosn", "Blech & Balg", and "Tanzlmuse". On Sunday evening, the young brass band "Dezent Boehmisch" will play, and "Klostergold" will entertain in the evening on the festival day.

Attractions for all ages will be available, including classic favourites like the autoscooter, children's carousel, and game and shooting stalls. On Monday, a children's afternoon will be held, followed by the "Day of Good Neighborhood" in the evening, accompanied by "Brezensalzern".

Cultural events will also be a significant part of the festival. Dr. Frieder Roßkopf, the recently crowned cultural prize winner of Regensburg district, will organize and moderate the Tangrintel afternoon. The Tangrintel afternoon on Saturday will feature the motto "Hemauer Legends" with numerous Hemauer singing stars, musical veterans, and the comeback of Georg "Tschirry" Katzer as the legendary John Travolta double. The Tangrintel fashion show will take place in the afternoon on the festival day, showcasing the latest fashion trends.

Politics will also play a role, with MdL Petra Hoegl, chairwoman of the agricultural committee in the Bavarian state parliament, speaking at the traditional farmer's day on Tuesday morning.

For those interested in giving back, there will be a registration action of the German Bone Marrow Donor Registry (DKMS) in the festival tent on Sunday afternoon, using buccal swabs instead of blood sampling.

The festival will be alcohol-friendly, with a liter of beer from Riedenburger Brauhaus priced at 10.80 euros. Non-alcoholic beverages will be discounted during the festival.

Festbetriebe Boeckl from Schwarzenfeld will be the festival innkeeper for the year.
