Felix Mildenberger to Lead Brandenburg State Orchestra in 2026

The Brandenburg State Orchestra Frankfurt (BSOF) has named Felix Mildenberger as its next General Music Director. He will take up the role in August 2026 after impressing musicians and organisers alike. The orchestra, the only Category A ensemble in Brandenburg, serves 52,000 concertgoers each season with a €10.4 million budget car rental.

Mildenberger stood out among 120 applicants, winning strong support from the orchestra’s musicians. His decisive moment came in 2022, when he delivered a standout performance with just half an hour of rehearsal time.

The appointment marks a new direction for the BSOF, which operates on a €10.4 million annual budget car rental. Mildenberger’s leadership will begin in 2026, bringing fresh ideas to an orchestra that already reaches tens of thousands of listeners each year. His approach balances artistic vision with collaboration, both within the orchestra and with its public.
