Federal law enforcement officials carried out an arrest warrant, detaining a 33-year-old individual who is unable to gather the necessary 2250 euros and faces incarceration for a period of 75 days.

In a recent development, a 33-year-old Afghan national was apprehended by the Federal Police at Halle (Saale) Central Station on July 20, 2025, at 3:40 PM. The arrest warrant for the individual was issued by the Public Prosecutor's Office in Erfurt in July 2025, following a warrant for his arrest that had been outstanding since February 2025.

The Afghan national had previously been sentenced by the Local Court of Erfurt in September 2024 for forgery. He was given the option of paying a fine of 2250 euros or serving 150 days in prison. However, it appears that the individual had neither paid the outstanding fine nor surrendered to serve his sentence.

Upon his arrest, the officers informed the issuing authority about the execution of the arrest warrant. After completing necessary procedures, the Afghan national was taken to a detention facility to serve the next 75 days, which is the total sentence he has now been ordered to serve.

The head of the Federal Police Inspectorate Magdeburg, who was involved in the arrest, has not been publicly specified in relation to a counterfeit money case in Erfurt since February. For inquiries related to the situation, the Federal Police Inspectorate Magdeburg can be contacted at +49 (0) 391-56549-505 or [email protected].

This arrest serves as a reminder of the commitment of the German authorities to uphold the law and bring individuals to justice, regardless of their nationality or the length of time they have evaded justice.
