Federal law enforcement officers (ICE) encounter obstruction near Celle Steine, sustaining damage - Local police seeking eyewitness accounts

A dangerous disruption of rail traffic near the town of Celle on Friday evening has prompted the Federal Police Investigation Office Bremen to seek a person involved in the incident.

According to the Federal Police, entering railway premises always carries a risk of death. This risk was evident in the recent case, where an ICE 775 train was forced to make an unscheduled stop in Isernhagen due to gravel being laid on the tracks.

The incident, which occurred on August 29, 2025, at 20:30, resulted in damage to the wheel assembly of the high-speed train. Fortunately, no passengers were injured during the incident.

The train was forced to continue to Hannover's main station at reduced speed, where it had to be taken out of service. This disruption caused a total delay of 80 minutes for 5 trains.

Witnesses who may have seen possible perpetrators on the tracks in the area between the Fuhse canal and the street "Zum Kiebitzsee" in Celle on Friday evening are sought.

The Federal Police are investigating a dangerous interference with rail traffic.
