Federal Law Enforcement (ICE) encountered difficulties near Celle Steine, resulting in damage; local authorities seek anyone with information to come forward
On the evening of August 29, 2025, ICE 775 experienced a disruption near Celle, Germany. The incident occurred at 20:30, causing the train to run over stones deliberately placed on the rails, damaging its wheel assembly.
Fortunately, no passengers were injured during the incident. However, the danger posed by such actions is significant. Stones on the tracks can become uncontrolled projectiles when hit by trains, posing a danger to both perpetrators and bystanders. The danger can result in injuries, property damage, or even train derailment.
The Federal Police is currently investigating this dangerous disruption of rail traffic. Witnesses who may have seen possible perpetrators on the railway tracks in the specified area on Friday evening are being sought. The investigation is focusing on the area between the Fuhse canal and the street "Zum Kiebitzsee" in Celle.
The Federal Police Inspectorate Bremen is handling the investigation, with Simon Gruhl serving as the press spokesman. For press inquiries, you can contact Simon Gruhl at 0421 16299 - 6101 or via email at [email protected]. Tips can also be submitted to the Federal Police Inspectorate Bremen via phone at 0421/16299-7777 or email at [email protected].
It's important to note that entering railway premises always carries a risk of death, as stated by the Federal Police. For more information, visit the Federal Police website at www.bundespolizei.de or follow them on Twitter at @bpol_nord.
After the unscheduled stop in Celle, the train had to continue at reduced speed and eventually had to be stopped in Hannover. The incident caused a total delay of 80 minutes for 5 trains. Despite the ongoing investigation, the responsible individuals who placed the stones on the tracks have not been identified or reported in the available sources.
The Federal Police urges anyone with information regarding this incident to come forward and assist in the investigation. Together, we can ensure the safety and security of our railways and the people who use them.
