Federal Law Enforcement Carries Out Warrant Arrest - 33-Year-Old Imprisoned Due to Inability to Raise €2,250, Facing 75 Days in Custody

Federal law enforcement carried out an arrest warrant, incarcerating a 33-year-old individual for 75 days due to their inability to raise €2250.

In a routine check against the police's wanted system, officers at the Halle (Saale) Central Station arrested a 33-year-old Afghan national on July 20, 2025, at 3:40 PM. The arrest warrant, issued by the Public Prosecutor's Office in Erfurt in February 2025, was for a total of 75 days of imprisonment.

The Afghan national was wanted for forgery, for which he was sentenced to a fine of 2250 euros or 150 days in prison by the Local Court of Erfurt in September 2024. However, the arrested individual had neither paid the outstanding fine nor surrendered to serve his sentence and was of unknown whereabouts prior to his arrest.

The Public Prosecutor's Office in Erfurt issued the arrest warrant following the conviction, as is common in cases where prosecutors present suspects to a judge who then issues the warrant. For example, the Stuttgart public prosecutor's office issued a similar warrant in a comparable case involving an Afghan suspect.

The Federal Police, whose Twitter handle is @bpol_pir, confirmed the arrest and informed the issuing authority about the execution of the arrest warrant. The arrest took place at the Federal Police's facilities at the Halle (Saale) Central Station.

For further questions about the arrest, you can contact the Federal Police Inspectorate Magdeburg. Their contact details are: +49 (0) 391-56549-505, e-mail: [email protected], and website: http://www.bundespolizei.de.

After the necessary procedures, the arrested Afghan national was taken to a detention facility to serve the next 75 days. The public is reminded that the presumption of innocence applies until proven guilty in a court of law.
