Federal authorities at Hamburg Airport: Incorrectly hired and detained - Driving without a license results in incarceration for unqualified personnel

The Federal Police Inspectorate Airport Hamburg announced the arrest of a 59-year-old Romanian national on Monday. The man had been wanted by the Public Prosecutor's Office in Bayreuth since April 2022.

According to the arrest warrant, the man owed a total of 1,883 euros, including procedural costs of 83 euros. He had been sought by the authorities for 45 daily fines of 40 euros each, equivalent to 45 days of imprisonment if unpaid.

The man attempted to fly from Paris to Bucharest but made a mistake at the border control, presenting himself at the exit control for a different flight. This error led to his detention by Federal Police officers in Hamburg.

The Federal Police Inspectorate Airport Hamburg, headed by Inspector Marcus Henschel, conducted the wanted person search that resulted in the man's arrest. The head of the inspectorate and the official start date of their term could not be identified in the available search results.
