Fashion house Rosa Clará restarts partnerships with celebrated designers
Rosa Clara, the Spanish bridal fashion powerhouse, is set to close its 2011 fiscal year with a turnover of 76 million euros, marking a 7% increase from the previous year. This growth is a testament to the company's enduring popularity and its strategic moves.
One such move is the hiring of an international designer, whose identity will be revealed in the coming weeks. This decision, according to the company, is part of a broader strategy shift aimed at enhancing its position in the market.
The bridal fashion industry has seen a trend towards partnerships with renowned designers to launch fashion lines. Rosa Clara is not an exception, having previously collaborated with designers like Lacroix and Karl Lagerfeld. However, it seems that these collaborations have not been as profitable as anticipated, leading to their discontinuation.
In a related development, the company has parted ways with Jesus del Pozo, a designer whose pieces are sold in 66 own and franchise stores of the bridal fashion chain Rosa Clara, both in Spain and abroad. The breakup is not final, and they will continue to sell his collection until September 2022.
Meanwhile, Rosa Clara is also expanding its physical presence. The company is currently in the process of launching a new corporate headquarters. Additionally, it plans to open points of sale in Miami, Manila, Tehran, Kuwait, and Istanbul before the end of the year, all of them franchises.
Despite these changes, Rosa Clara has faced legal challenges. It has been sentenced to pay 1.02 million euros to its former partner Rafael Martinez Galve. Martinez Galve, on the other hand, claimed four million euros in benefits for the percentages he controls as usufruct in four companies linked to the business group.
As the company moves forward, it is studying the renewal of the agreement with Jesus del Pozo, with a decision expected in September 2022. The commercialization period for the 2013 collection in Rosa Clara begins in September, providing an opportunity for the company to showcase its new direction.
Pronovias, another prominent player in the bridal fashion sector, has also made changes. It has ended its alliance with Valentino but continues to collaborate with Elie Saab. These shifts in the industry indicate a competitive and dynamic landscape, with companies constantly seeking to innovate and stay relevant.
