Fashion extravaganza Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Madrid is marking its 40th milestone in September.
Madrid's Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week is gearing up for its 82nd edition, marking a significant milestone as it coincides with its 40th anniversary. Asier Labarga, an experienced executive at Ifema Madrid with over 15 years in event management, has been leading the event since April 2022. His primary focus is on repositioning the event internationally and promoting Spanish fashion design.
The event will take place at the Ifema Madrid exhibition center, specifically in pavilion 14.1, from September 17 to 21. The main program will start on September 18 with Agatha Ruiz de la Prada, Flabelus, Lola Casademunt, and other renowned designers gracing the runway.
The opening show of the event is by the Colombian designer Silvia Tcherassi, marking her as the first international designer invited to the event. This prestigious position is a testament to Labarga's goal of boosting the platform, repositioning it in the international circuit, and making it a growth engine for the Spanish fashion industry.
The event will also extend to other locations in the city, with OFF format shows beginning on September 17. The September 15 event, a separate collaboration with the University of Design, Innovation, and Technology, will kick off the festivities. This event is not part of the main program but serves as an exciting prelude to the main event.
The edition will close on September 21 with designers Guillermo Decimo and Ales Hnatek. Notable returning designers include Palomo, Pedro del Hierro, Adolfo Domínguez, and Simorra, who will all be showcasing their spring-summer 2026 collections at the event.
In addition to Labarga, Valentina Suárez-Zuloaga has recently been hired as the creative director. Her mission is to promote talent and internationalize the event further. With these dynamic leaders at the helm, Madrid's Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week is set to continue its legacy of showcasing the best of Spanish and international fashion design.
