A New Farm Group Opens in Hünfeld

The city of Hünfeld is set to welcome a unique addition to its educational landscape, as a farm group is set to open there as an outdoor group of the daycare center Buchfinkenland. The new facility, located on the farm of the Petter and Kruse families in Sargenzell, will be the first of its kind in the city and the second in the district of Fulda.

Mayor Benjamin Tschesnok praised the initiative, stating that it is a fantastic offer for the children in their city. He thanked Sarah and Andreas Kruse for allowing the farm group to be set up on their farm, as well as Arthur Hahn from the Buchfinkenland daycare center association for his cooperation.

The 50-square-meter shelter, costing 130,000 euros, is being built on the outdoor area of the farm in Sargenzell. It will include toilets, a washing area, a small kitchenette, and enough space for eating and playing on bad weather days. The large windows of the shelter will connect the indoor area with the covered free-range area of the chickens, while the garden on the farm will serve as a living and learning space for the children throughout the year.

The farm in Sargenzell is home to a variety of animals, including dairy cows and their calves, horses, donkeys, pigs, dogs, cats, rabbits, and of course, chickens. Kindergarten director and local councilor Pia Biedenbach emphasized that the farm group is something special, praising the commitment of her team from the kindergarten for supporting and moving the project forward.

The farm group, consisting of 20 children between the ages of three and six, will be moved to the farm in Sargenzell after the completion of construction work. From 7:30 to 13:30, the children will be cared for on the farm, spending most of their kindergarten day with the animals and on the outdoor area.

Farm days of the Kita Buchfinkenland in Michelsrombach have been taking place on the farm in Sargenzell for some time. Today, a topping-out ceremony is taking place on the farm, marking a significant step forward in the construction process. The city of Hünfeld is represented as the second place in the Fulda district by the opening of the new outdoor kindergarten on the farm of the Petter and Kruse families in Sargenzell. Tschesnok expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to provide such a unique educational experience for the children in Hünfeld.
