Farewell Event: "Goodbye Spielhalle KUNST" on August 23, 2025: 19-month celebration of art and innovation

The KUNST arcade, an important hub for contemporary art in Greifswald, is set to close its doors after a successful 19-month run. Established in 2024 to celebrate the Caspar-David-Friedrich jubilee, the arcade has contributed significantly to the city's cultural program.

Over the past 600 days, a total of 752 events were offered, showcasing works by artists from Greifswald, the region, Germany, and internationally. The arcade presented ten exhibitions as part of the cultural program, featuring diverse historical drawings and contemporary positions.

One of the highlights was the exhibition of works by students and a selection from the 2025 State Art Exhibition. The arcade also presented exhibitions featuring artists from the region, Germany, and internationally, including a celebration marking the 250th birthday of Caspar David Friedrich in Greifswald.

The organizer of the Caspar-David-Friedrich anniversary, the professional association, has expressed its gratitude to all organizers and visitors for making the diverse cultural program possible. A big thank you also goes to all the artists, curators, and visitors who contributed to the KUNST arcade.

The closing party for the KUNST arcade will take place on Saturday, August 23, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 10:00 PM. The event will take place in the current exhibition "Between Intuition and Certainty: Lena Schmidt and Pauline Stopp." The closing party will feature music, performances, soundscapes, and sound collages.

Despite closing, the KUNST arcade has played a significant role in the cultural program in Greifswald. The city, which has been officially recognized as a Caspar-David-Friedrich city, has seen over half a million visitors attend the cultural program.

Greifswald and its cultural scene will continue to thrive, and the memory of the KUNST arcade will remain as a testament to the city's commitment to contemporary art. The Jubilee Office thanks all for making the diverse cultural program possible and looks forward to future cultural events.
