Fantasy Football Week 2 Waiver Wire Takers: Kyren Williams, Justice Hill

The NFL season has begun and fantasy football is in full swing. The top running backs available for reception on the waiver wire in Week 2 include Kyren Williams of the Los Angeles Rams and Justise Hill of the Baltimore Ravens.

Other potential running backs on your fantasy football waiver wire include Kenneth Ganwell of the Philadelphia Eagles , Joshua Kelly of the Los Angeles Chargers , Tyler Allgaier of the Atlanta Falcons or the Jacksonville Jaguars Tank Bigsy.

Gainwell was a member of the Eagles running back committee last season that earned a berth in Super Bowl LXXVII. Gainwell carried the ball 14 times for 54 yards in a 25-20 win over the New England Patriots in Week 1. He added four catches for 20 yards and totaled 74 yards from scrimmage.

Kelly, the Chargers' backup behind Austin Ekeler, rushed 16 times for 91 yards and a touchdown in the Week 1 shootout against the Miami Dolphins.

Sophomore running back Allgaier scored two touchdowns for the Falcons in Week 1. He ran 15 times for 75 yards and added three catches for 19 yards against the Carolina Panthers. Allgaier outplayed rookie running back Bijan Robinson (10 carries, 56 yards).

If you play in a 12- or 14-team fantasy football league, consider Jacksonville Jaguars backup running back Tank Bisbee. Bisbee, a rookie out of Auburn, rushed seven times for 13 yards, including a touchdown for the Jaguars.

Kellen Williams (RB, Rams)

The Rams, projected to win six games this season, defeated the Seattle Seahawks in Week 1. The Seahawks won the divisional round by five points but fell to the visiting Rams by 17 points.

This team showed grit, toughness and tenacity," head coach Sean McVay said."I loved it, especially Kyren Williams. "

Williams started the season as the backup running back behind Cam Akers. Although Akers had more touches than Williams in Week 1 (Weeks 22-15), he only rushed for 29 yards.

Williams rushed for an eye-catching 52 yards and two touchdowns on just 15 carries. He scored the Rams' first touchdown of the season, 75 yards, on 16 plays at the end of the first quarter.

The Rams selected the speedy Williams with a fifth-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft. The former Notre Dame star scored 27 rushing touchdowns in 24 games during his final two seasons in South Bend.

Williams saw limited action in his rookie season with the Rams, rushing 35 times for 139 yards and zero touchdowns.

The Rams (1-0) play four home games over the next six weeks. Opponents they face include the San Francisco 49ers (Week 2), Bengals (Week 3) and Eagles (Week 5).

The Rams play the 49ers next Sunday as a +7 home underdog.

The 49ers are consensus -500 odds to win the NFC West. They started the season at -160 but saw their odds increase significantly after beating the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 1. The Rams' division odds are unchanged, holding steady at +1,000.

Justice Hill (RB, Ravens)

The Ravens took a big hit in Week 1 when they lost starting running back J.K. Dobbins tore his Achilles tendon in the second half against the Houston Texans. The Ravens have good depth at running back, including Hill, Gus Edwards and former All-Pro Melvin Gordon.

Hill and Edwards battled for the backup spot in the preseason. But with Dobbins gone, they may be spending time apart in the future. Gordon started the season on the practice squad and the Ravens will promote him to the roster.

In Week 1, Edwards rushed eight times for 32 yards, while Hill had a short-yardage situation against the Texans. Hill ran eight times for nine yards but two touchdowns. Hill averaged 5.3 yards per carry last season.

The Ravens are off to a 1-0 start but face one of their toughest stretches yet with three road games over the next four weeks. They will face opponents from three divisions, and all three teams in the AFC North are on the road. The Ravens will host the Indianapolis Colts in Week 3 for their only home game over the next four weeks.

The Ravens lost to the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 2. The Bengals just lost to the Cleveland Browns. But oddsmakers have them at -3 for their Week 2 game against the Ravens. Despite Dobbins going down with a season-ending injury, the Ravens are still the co-favorite at +200 odds to win the AFC North.
