Family vacation leads to arrest: intoxicated father, mother in resistance

On Saturday evening (30.08.), officers on patrol in Lünen stopped a VW Touran on Kurt-Schumacher-Straße. Inside the vehicle were a 44-year-old man, his 48-year-old partner, their teenage daughter, and another couple.

Initial investigations revealed that the 44-year-old man, a resident of Dortmund, was driving erratically. The man showed signs of alcohol consumption during the encounter with the officers. A voluntary breath test was attempted, but the man blew too little into the tube. Consequently, a blood test was ordered for the 44-year-old man.

The man became increasingly aggressive, leading to his handcuffing and placement in the patrol car. His partner, who was also in the vehicle, shouted and filmed the officers. The partner's actions significantly disrupted the operation, resulting in a dispersal order being issued.

The partner faces charges of resisting arrest, assaulting an officer, and attempted escape. The other three occupants of the VW Touran were allowed to continue their journey after the police procedures were completed.

The 44-year-old man was taken to the central detention facility. A doctor took a blood sample from the 44-year-old man at the police station. The man, who has not been identified, faces charges of driving under the influence, resisting arrest, and driving without a license.
