In an incident that took place on Saturday evening, August 30th, Dortmund police stopped a VW Touran on Kurt-Schumacher-StraรŸe due to erratic driving. The vehicle was carrying five occupants, including a 44-year-old man from Dortmund, his 48-year-old partner, their teenage daughter, and another couple.

Upon stopping the vehicle, officers noticed a strong smell of alcohol on the 44-year-old driver. An attempt at a voluntary alcohol test failed as the man did not blow into the tube long enough. The man became increasingly aggressive and was handcuffed and placed in the patrol car.

The partner of the 44-year-old man stood in front of the patrol car, disrupting its movement. She did not comply with the dispersal order issued by the officers. The partner of the 44-year-old man shouted loudly and filmed the officers. She also tried to open the door of the patrol car to free her husband. The man in the patrol car kicked the seats and resisted the officers.

The partner of the 44-year-old man faces charges of resisting arrest, assaulting an officer, and attempted escape. The 44-year-old man faces charges of driving under the influence, resisting arrest, and driving without a license.

The other three occupants of the VW were allowed to continue their journey after the police procedures were completed. The 44-year-old man was taken to the central police custody facility. A doctor took a blood sample from the man at the police station, and a blood test was ordered.
