Bielefeld: High-Speed Volkswagen Crash Leads to Charges

In an incident that occurred early this morning, a Volkswagen Sharan was involved in a collision on Elbeallee, Bielefeld. According to the Bielefeld Police Headquarters, the driver and passenger of the vehicle, both 20-year-olds from Bielefeld, exited the vehicle unharmed.

The incident began at 1:40 AM when the Volkswagen was traveling excessively fast on Elbeallee. As patrol officers attempted to turn around, the Volkswagen veered onto a footpath. The vehicle continued through a park before colliding with a traffic island on Rheinallee.

Despite activated sirens and signals to stop, the driver of the Volkswagen did not comply. The officers charged the driver with endangering traffic due to alcohol consumption and reckless, inconsiderate driving. The driver admitted to consuming alcohol after the accident. A doctor at the police station south took a blood sample from the driver. The driver's driver's license was also confiscated.

The collision caused significant damage. The estimated cost of the damage to the traffic island and the Volkswagen Sharan is 10,200 euros. A tow truck company retrieved the damaged vehicle.

It is important to note that there is no publicly available information about a 20-year-old from Bielefeld driving at an unspecified time at the Elbeallee accident, accused of dangerous driving under alcohol influence and reckless driving at maximum speed. The known accident at Elbeallee involved a 32-year-old man from Bielefeld driving a Mercedes who lost control and collided with a parked BMW, injuring three people. No mention of a 20-year-old or charges for the highest possible speed was reported in that incident.
