Student Transforms Dorm Room into Comfy, Personal Haven

Claire Kraemer '26, a student in the Class of 2026, has transformed her dorm room, Healy 335, into a cosy and inviting space that reflects her personality and interests.

Kraemer, an Orientation Leader, Speech Peer Educator, Healy Hall Council member, and the Features Editor, has made her room welcoming to guests by turning her bed into a couch space, lined with stuffed animals and pillows, and having a comfy chair in the corner for additional seating.

The walls of her room are adorned with four posters: three naturistic posters and one of The Grand Budapest Hotel. A sign that reads The Beatles is on top of her desk, indicating her favorite band. From her ceiling, a disco ball hangs and reflects light into different sections of her room during the daytime hours.

Kraemer, who is from Bedford, New Hampshire, has a TV set up in her room for entertainment. Her desk next to her bed is decorated with items that remind her of loved ones, including sticky notes from her time as an orientation leader and photographs of family and friends. Her desk is very organized with her school supplies and memorabilia.

To tie the colors together, Kraemer has a light blue comforter on her bed. She has also added LED lights and fairy lights to create a warm and inviting atmosphere. Kraemer shares her living space with classmates Olivia Martin '26 and Sophie Liu '26, with common themes in their room including environmental sustainability, feminist literature, and global cultural awareness.

Townhouse 1G, where Kraemer resides, is home to eight residents, each with their own interests reflected in the decor. The downstairs floor of Townhouse 1G is a central meeting spot for the residents, with an Ireland-themed downstairs area. The suite on Loyola 1, where Kraemer and her roommates Caroline Kramer, Sophia Mariani, and Mary Kate Murphy share a suite, has a common area with an earthy, homey feel.

Kraemer is majoring in Anthropology and is involved with Her Campus and Intramural Sports. She is working on completing the other half of her room this semester. Despite her busy schedule, Kraemer has managed to create a cozy and personal space that truly feels like home.
