The city of Munich is set to welcome a new era in its public transportation system with the introduction of the new S-Bahn trains from 2028. These state-of-the-art trains, currently on display at the International Automobile Exhibition IAA Mobility until September 14 on Munich's Königsplatz, are designed to address the frequent delays and mainline closures that have been a common issue with the current S-Bahn system.

Siemens AG, a leading company in the field of mobility, is building these new trains for Munich. They will deliver 90 new trains for the Munich S-Bahn network, ensuring a significant upgrade to the city's public transportation.

The new S-Bahn trains feature a distinctive chevron pattern and a white and blue design on the outside. Inside, they are designed to be comfortable for all passengers, with a larger seat distance and more space compared to the current trains. Evelyn Palla, Regional Traffic Board Member of Deutsche Bahn AG, has stated that the new trains offer more space and more comfort.

The new S-Bahn trains are equipped with several modern features to enhance the commuting experience. They come with USB-C power outlets, WLAN, and a powerful air conditioning system that can handle up to 45 degrees Celsius. The trains are also designed for faster boarding, aiming to improve operation reliability.

In addition, the new S-Bahn trains have mobile-friendly windows, making them intuitive for staff and passengers alike. They are also highly reliable in operation, a much-needed improvement for the Munich S-Bahn, known for its frequent delays.

The length of the new S-Bahn trains is over 200 meters, making them one of the largest in the S-Bahn network. These new trains are not just an upgrade in terms of size and design; they are intended to be a solution to the constant challenges faced by commuters in Munich.

The new S-Bahn trains will be a significant step forward for Munich's public transportation system, offering a more comfortable, reliable, and efficient commuting experience for its residents and visitors alike.
