Expansion of discount store chain in France: addition of a new branch to the popular franchise
The discount retail chain Tedi is set to open its second branch in Hassfurt, Germany, on September 17, 2025. Located at Robert-Bosch-StraΓe 1, the new store will span over 600 square meters, offering a wide range of products.
Tedi, one of the largest non-food discounters in Europe, operates over 3500 stores in 15 European countries. The company's expansion in Hassfurt is a strategic move to capitalise on the booming discount market and optimise retail locations in the city.
The new Tedi branch will open its doors at 8 a.m. and will be open from Monday to Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. The store will feature around 16,000 products, including household items, stationery, craft and decorative articles, party and gift items, and more.
To celebrate the grand opening, the first 1000 customers at the new Tedi branch will receive an additional free surprise with their purchase. Furthermore, around 5000 items will be permanently available for 1 euro or less.
Tedi's expansion reached a record high with over 400 new openings in the 2024/2025 financial year. This impressive growth led to the company achieving a record turnover of over 3 billion euros in the same period.
The new Tedi branch in Hassfurt marks another important milestone for the company, following the opening of its 2000th branch in Essen. By 2029, Tedi plans to expand its branch network to approximately 5000 branches.
Meanwhile, the city market in Hassfurt, a local supplier, is currently facing closure. The last day of sales for the city market is October 17, 2025. Tedi took over locations of the former trading company Pfennigpfeiffer in Bavaria and East Germany this year.
This second Tedi branch in Hassfurt is expected to provide local residents with affordable, high-quality products and contribute to the city's retail landscape.
