NFL Coverage in the UK Expands with Partnerships Between League and Broadcasters

Football fans in the UK are in for a treat as the National Football League (NFL) has announced expanded partnerships with three broadcasters – Channel 5, Sky Sports, and Dazn – to bring more games to UK viewers than ever before.

Sky Sports, a stalwart in sports broadcasting, has agreed to a three-year deal to show up to five live games per weekend. The expanded partnership aims to drive fandom and grow the game at every level around the world. Sky's coverage will continue to include NFL RedZone, Thursday Night, Sunday Night, Monday Night Football, and Thanksgiving games. Sky will also have first pick of games at both 6pm and 9pm on Sunday. In addition, the broadcaster will show the NFL's games held in Europe, with some matches in London and Dublin, the Super Bowl, and some playoff matches being shared with Channel 5 as part of a new free-to-air deal. Sky's chief sports officer UK & Ireland, Jonathan Licht, has extended the partnership with the NFL beyond 30 years.

Channel 5, known for its sports programming portfolio that includes international cricket, snooker, and darts, has added two weekly NFL games to its growing portfolio. Every Monday Night Football game will be shown live from 1 am on Channel 5. Some NFL games in London and Dublin, the Super Bowl, and some playoff matches will also be shared with Sky as part of the new deal. Gerrit Meier, head of NFL International, stated that Sky Sports has been significant in the NFL's growth in the UK.

UK viewers can also watch the NFL on specialist sports streaming platform Dazn via its Game Pass, which offers all NFL fixtures live to UK viewers.

The NFL considers the UK market a priority for international growth, and the league's games continue to captivate UK audiences, as demonstrated by record-breaking Super Bowl LVII viewership on Sky Sports. The expansion of the partnership between the NFL and Sky Sports is intended to further bring value to customers and provide world-class coverage.

In conclusion, the NFL's growth in the UK is evident, and with these expanded partnerships, more fans than ever before will have access to the exciting action of the NFL. Whether you're a long-time fan or new to the game, there's never been a better time to tune in and join the NFL family in the UK.
