Gießen's Oktoberfest for Seniors: A Day of Tradition, Music, and Fun
Mark your calendars, seniors! On Saturday, September 13, 2025, the city of Gießen is hosting a special Oktoberfest event just for you.
The festivities will take place at the Congress Hall, a fitting venue for this traditional celebration. Doors open at 13:00, with the event officially starting at 14:00. Tickets can be purchased in advance on Tuesday, September 2, between 9:00 and 12:00, at the city hall in front of the Women's and Equal Opportunities Office (Room 120, ground floor). The entrance fee is 8.00 €, including VAT.
This year's Oktoberfest promises to be a memorable one, with a lineup of exciting entertainment. Alfons Dörr, a well-known musician from Gießen and its surroundings, will host and musically accompany the event. Alfons is renowned for his broad musical repertoire, sonorous voice, and engaging personality. He is a keyboard player, singer, and entertainer who will surely make the day even more special.
The day will be filled with musical performances, including a set from the brass band BlechBRAND. The folk dance group Salzböhden will also provide entertainment, adding a lively and authentic touch to the event.
During the break, you'll have the chance to enjoy traditional German treats such as pretzels and Obatzda.
