Expanded public transportation options in Baden-Württemperg through new bus routes

The state of Baden-Württemberg is investing heavily in regional transport, with over 1.6 million euros allocated for the Lörrach-EuroAirport bus line for the next three years. This is part of a broader initiative, bwegt, aimed at promoting sustainable and climate-friendly mobility.

The Lörrach-EuroAirport bus line, which started operation on December 15, 2024, runs hourly on weekdays from 5 am to 12 pm, with a half-hourly service during peak airport hours. The route, spanning 20 kilometers, takes 50 minutes for the entire journey. The modern and comfortable buses operating on this line, integrated into the bwegt family, are equipped with air conditioning, boarding and alighting assistance, WLAN, and USB power outlets.

In addition to the Lörrach-EuroAirport bus line, the state is funding the Rems-Murr district with around 3.5 million euros over the next five years for the operation and promotion of the Herrenberg-Calw line. This line, starting operation on New Year's Day, runs hourly on weekdays from 5 am to 12 pm, and takes 39 minutes for the entire 23-kilometer journey.

The state's commitment to regional transport extends beyond these two lines. The funding program for regiobuses has been extended for seven more projects in 2024, amounting to around 29 million euros. This includes the new regional bus line connecting Schorndorf-Welzheim, which will link Welzheim to the S-Bahn network of the Stuttgart metropolitan region. The Schorndorf-Welzheim bus line runs every half-hour in sync with the S-Bahn, and every 15 minutes during peak hours.

The new regional bus lines, chiefly connecting towns in the Alzey-Worms district, have Wörrstadt as a key hub reachable by lines 441, 442, 443, 444, 481, and 644. This enhancement of rural mobility not only improves access to natural and cultural sites such as the Burgunderturm in Rheinhessen but also contributes to a more interconnected and sustainable regional transport system.
