Expanded prohibition on hazardous equipment, firearms, electroshock devices, stabbing weapons, and knives of every variety is extended by the federal police in Hamburg, Germany.

The Federal Police Directorate Hannover has announced the extension of a general decree, aimed at enhancing the safety of all train passengers and the population, at several main train stations in Hamburg. The decree will be in effect from Monday, September 1, 2025, 00:00 to Tuesday, September 30, 2025, 24:00.

The affected stations include Hamburg Hauptbahnhof, Hamburg-Altona, Hamburg-Harburg, Hamburg-Bergedorf, and Hamburg-Dammtor. However, exceptions to the decree are outlined in section 3.2 of the general decree.

The extension of the general decree follows an increase in bodily injury offenses using weapons and dangerous tools, particularly knives. The decree bans certain items such as dangerous devices, firearms, imitation weapons, blunt, pointed and stabbing weapons, as well as all types of knives at these stations.

Violations of the bans may result in a ban from the premises, a station ban, refusal of transport, or a penalty fine. The Federal Police deployment forces will monitor compliance with the ordinance.

The responsible authority for extending the general prohibition is the Hamburg Police in cooperation with the Federal Police, DB Security, and the Hamburg Hochbahn security team. This coordination falls under the framework of the "Alliance safer main station" which governs such security measures in Hamburg's train stations.

The extension of the general decree is not limited to a specific period, but it will be in effect until September 30, 2025.

In addition, personal alarms or pocket alarms can be used as a means to draw attention in dangerous situations. These devices produce a loud, shrill tone that attracts the attention of bystanders, potentially deterring potential perpetrators in the presence of witnesses.
