Expanded Population Surge Declarations by the FWG: "Strengthening Demographic Expansion"

The Free Voters' Community (FWG) has announced their plans and strategies for the upcoming municipal election in Bergisch Gladbach, scheduled for September 14, 2023. Despite not having a candidate for mayor, the FWG has named candidates for all 26 constituencies and presented their election program on their official website.

The FWG's approach to strengthening the performance of the administration is focused on citizen-oriented service provision. This includes the expansion and acceleration of digitization, comprehensive information and involvement of citizens in change processes, early involvement of expert citizens' associations and initiatives, increasing the participation rights of citizens, expansion of the opening hours and better online accessibility of citizen offices, improvement of communication with the citizens, newsletter service, construction site information, and making the committee for suggestions and complaints more present to the citizens.

One of the FWG's flagship projects for the next five years is to make Bergisch Gladbach a livable metropolis in green preserved, with moderate, manageable population growth. This plan involves rapidly visible successes in eliminating the backlog of renovations from previous decades, effective personnel and financial equipment of the school construction and infrastructure GmbH, sustainable consolidation of the city's finances for future generations, more climate and noise protection, and a traffic turnaround that is oriented towards the needs of citizens.

To address the city's traffic problems, the FWG proposes prompt and pragmatic implementation of the road construction program, strengthening of the infrastructure company, fair distribution of limited space, separation of foot, bike, and car traffic, traffic calming, strengthening the accessibility of supply centers, closer involvement of residents in planning, creation of flat barrier-free accessibility, expansion of public transport, improvement of bike route network, and better communication with citizens.

The FWG also has plans to secure offers for seniors and youth. This includes establishing a youth parliament or council similar to the senior citizens' council, retaining and quickly renovating sports facilities, and organizing the use of sports facilities for activities outside of club memberships and mentorships.

In terms of migration and integration, the FWG aims to ease the burden on the community by demanding stronger financial support from the federal and state governments for accommodation and integration, digitalizing all processes, coordinating with other municipalities and institutions, recognizing foreign qualifications faster, and building/renting cost-effective accommodations that can also serve as affordable housing for all.

The FWG also has plans to improve the cityscape, addressing issues such as littering and vacancy. This includes creating new housing in connection with adapted quarter design, internal densification that is location- and climate-compatible, unseal and green areas, sponsorships for green areas, appreciation of citizen initiatives, quick intervention team for the removal of litter and repair of damages, strengthening and making the public order services more present, effectively punish offenses, and preservation of natural wooded, green, and open spaces.

The FWG also aims to ensure that housing is affordable for all by simplifying building standards, changing the NRW building code, promoting cooperative housing, strengthening RBS, quickly developing "brownfields" like Zanders, overbuilding parking lots, and consistently implementing the digital building file for accelerating building projects. The FWG also plans to eliminate personnel problems in OGS/Kitas by easing entry for supporting and profiling forces like musicians and artists, and establishing a substitute pool for personnel shortages.

The Free Voters Association (Freie Wählergemeinschaft) is led by their faction chairman Rainer Röhr. For more information about the FWG's candidates, strategies, and plans, visit their official website.
