Airbus and Engie Expand Partnership to Tackle Climate Change

In a significant move towards sustainability, Airbus has announced a new framework agreement with Engie, aimed at decarbonizing its operations at European sites. The announcement was made from Cologne.

Under this agreement, Engie will operate and maintain the new infrastructure at Airbus's facilities across Germany, France, and Spain. The key person at Airbus responsible for climate protection strategy is Nicole Dreyer-Langlet, and other companies involved in the implementation include Siemens (represented by Cedric Neike) and Hager Group (represented by Daniel Hager).

Frank Lacroix, Executive Vice President of Engie, has emphasized the importance of addressing climate change in Airbus's decarbonization strategy. In his statement, he highlighted the need for a comprehensive approach that considers both climate change action and business competitiveness.

Airbus aims to cut greenhouse gas emissions by 85% at its French, German, and Spanish facilities by 2030. By 2030, the company also aims to reduce energy consumption at these facilities by 20% compared to 2015 levels.

The decarbonization strategy of Airbus is not limited to the company alone but extends to its industrial customers as well. Frank Lacroix stated that the strategy is aimed at addressing the challenges of climate change while maintaining the competitiveness and resilience of these businesses.

As part of the strategy, projects to install intelligent energy management systems and efficient power and heat generation using renewable energy will be gradually introduced from 2026 and fully operational by 2029.

The partnership between Airbus and Engie continues a long-standing cooperation. According to Frank Lacroix, the head of the Global Business Unit Local Energy Infrastructures at Engie, the decarbonization strategy of Airbus is focused on addressing climate change while maintaining business competitiveness and resilience.

The new projects aim to reduce Airbus's carbon footprint at its European facilities significantly. Frank Lacroix underscored the need for a comprehensive approach that considers both climate change action and business competitiveness in Airbus's decarbonization strategy.

The new contract between Airbus and Engie expands the partnership to Germany and Spain, marking a significant step in Airbus's commitment to sustainability.
