Exhibition at Fürther Foerstermühle featuring works by Franz Janetzko in materials such as concrete, silicone, and wood.
Sculptor Franz Janetzko, a renowned figure in the regional art scene, is set to exhibit his latest works at the Furth Forest Mill Gallery. Born in Erfurt in 1951, Janetzko has been a resident of Furth for many years and has previously showcased his art at the gallery since the 1990s.
The exhibition, opening today, Saturday, features a diverse array of works in materials such as concrete, silicone, and wood. The sculptures and objects on display continue to embody reduced forms and an ironic take on everyday objects, a signature style that Janetzko is known for.
Among the exhibits, visitors will find clear, often architecturally inspired forms, such as birdhouses and staircase fragments. These staircase fragments, however, lead nowhere, hinting at a possible element of absurdity or non-functionality in Janetzko's work.
In addition to the exhibition, Janetzko is also participating in the "Free Air Gallery 5" project, where steel and concrete reliefs by the artist have been installed on the boundary walls of the Furth Forest Mill.
The new exhibition at the Furth Forest Mill Gallery marks a continuation of Janetzko's work with materials such as concrete, silicone, and wood. His sculptures and objects often distort everyday motifs and introduce a satirical element, as seen in his previous work.
The exhibition runs from August 23, 2025, to March 20, 2026, offering art enthusiasts a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in Janetzko's thought-provoking and humorous creations. Concurrently with the exhibition, Janetzko is also participating in the "Free Air Gallery 5" project, adding another layer of intrigue to his current body of work.
