Executives in the healthcare sector propelling expansion with innovative services and merger-acquisition activities

In a recent survey conducted by a global AI-led professional services firm, approximately 145 provider executives, many of whom are CFOs, shared insights into the current state and future direction of the healthcare industry.

The report reveals that the majority of respondents anticipate growth for their organizations this year, with 78% expecting to expand through the introduction of new services and businesses. Interestingly, 75% of survey participants expect to create scale through mergers and acquisitions or partnerships with external entities.

However, challenges persist. Over half (58%) of respondents struggle with workforce development and retention, while 47% express the need for better technology and data to connect digital tools. Less than one in five (18%) respondents can seamlessly connect data sources or enable real-time visibility, highlighting a significant gap in digital maturity.

The survey analysis also sheds light on the need for improved alignment, transparency, and rigour in operating rhythms, structures, and tools to meet community needs. Leading health systems are adapting their operating models to industry and regulatory headwinds, as revealed by the report.

The report offers practical steps for achieving operational stability in health systems, including insights into how these systems are adapting their operating models to the challenges they face.

The firm, which brings together approximately 18,000 professionals, delivers a comprehensive approach to solving interrelated industry challenges in healthcare. Its Health segment serves providers, government agencies, life sciences companies, payers, and other healthcare organizations.

The firm has proven success in modernizing and innovating healthcare services, finances, and operations. In 2025, its website received three awards for its strategy, revenue cycle, and outsourced coding services.

The report confirms that most leaders use a common set of metrics to run their businesses and measure performance. The firm's website is built to help clients across industries outwit complexity, driving efficiency and resilience in the healthcare, financial services, energy, infrastructure, and national security markets.

Despite the report not revealing the identity of the global AI-powered consulting firm that conducted the study, it is clear that the insights gained from this survey will be invaluable in shaping the future of the healthcare industry.
