The TSV 05, a local sports club with around 500 members and 14 youth and 2 senior football teams, is one step closer to inaugurating its new clubhouse. The anticipated opening is set for the 2026/27 season.

Alexander Schmidt, the club's chairman, has already visited the site where the gallery will be located, just a few meters from the sidelines. The new clubhouse will be the hub of club activities, featuring an observation platform and a gallery that will serve as a viewpoint for watching games.

The estimated costs for the new clubhouse are around 1.3 million euros, with the TSV 05 taking out a loan of 250,000 euros. The rest of the costs are made up of own contributions and donations, including support from the Willy Sachs Foundation (470,000 euros), the state of NRW (470,000 euros), and the city of Wuppertal (150,000 euros).

The rough construction of the new clubhouse is almost complete, and orders for the windows and doors will be placed soon. The installation of the windows and doors is expected to take six to eight weeks. The glass doors in the gallery can be slid together, and the gallery roof provides protection from rain.

The old clubhouse will continue to be used concurrently, and the TSV 05 will celebrate the topping-out ceremony of its new clubhouse on the playing field at 12 noon. The official groundbreaking ceremony took place in August 2024.

However, the building site was later classified as a "bomb suspect area" due to official investigations, as three waste bins were discovered concreted in during the investigations. The waste bins resembled stick bombs, according to TSV chairman Alexander Schmidt.

Despite this setback, the TSV 05 is looking forward to the new clubhouse, which will include a new Telekom antenna that will generate rental income for the club over a 30-year contract. The traditional Waldfest with numerous youth tournaments has been taking place since Friday evening (29th August).

The new clubhouse will be more than just a place to play sports; it will be a symbol of the TSV 05's commitment to its members and the community. The inauguration can't come soon enough for the TSV 05, its chairman, and its members.
