In a significant development for the healthcare sector in Wiesbaden, it has been announced that ten new buildings will be constructed to provide staff apartments for employees of the nearby HSK. This project, valued at approximately 50 million euros, is set to be completed by autumn 2027.
The buildings will feature a sustainable and modern design, with a wooden hybrid construction that combines both sustainability and modern architecture. The exterior and interior walls will be made of cross-laminated timber, while prefabricated bathroom modules, solid construction staircases, and reinforced concrete hollow-core slabs will also be used.
Heating for the apartments will be provided by district heating, and each apartment will come equipped with underfloor heating, mechanical ventilation, and balconies. The roofs will be greened and equipped with photovoltaic systems, further emphasising the project's commitment to sustainability.
The new staff apartments will also include green outdoor spaces, a neighbourhood square, and a children's playground, creating a welcoming and community-focused environment. A mix of apartments, ranging from one-room to six-room, will be available, suitable for shared living.
The construction of these staff apartments is a milestone in securing skilled workers, increasing the attractiveness of HSK as an employer, and strengthening Wiesbaden as a healthcare city. Angela Tausendpfund, CEO of EGW, has granted GWW a sub-lease right for the project on the HSK site, with the project's press release issued by the Press Office of the State Capital Wiesbaden.
HSK's Managing Director, Rungfa Saligmann, emphasised the central importance of the project for the clinic and healthcare provision. Milena Löbcke, Chairwoman of the Supervisory Board of Helios HSK and Health Department Head, also expressed her belief that the new construction of staff apartments is an important contribution to strengthening Wiesbaden as a healthcare city.
The construction of these staff apartments is a sign of urgently needed appreciation for nursing, medical-technical professions, and functional services. Citizens with questions about the HSK staff apartments can contact the relevant department or authority for more information.
Meanwhile, it has been mentioned that another project is underway to build 168 residential units for employees of the nearby HAS (Hochsauerlandkreis or similar). Although the institution responsible for this project has not been specified, the project is set to be completed by the end of 2027.
