In a significant move to secure skilled workers and enhance the attractiveness of HSK as an employer, a new construction project for staff apartments is underway in Wiesbaden. The Landkreis Oberspreewald-Lausitz (OSL) has been appointed as the builder for the 168 apartments, with completion expected by autumn 2027.
The project, which aims to relieve the tense housing market and strengthen the health location of Wiesbaden, will span across ten buildings, totalling around 12,500 square meters. The total investment, estimated at approximately 50 million euros, does not include the cost of the land lease from EGW.
Milena Löbcke, Chairwoman of the Supervisory Board of Helios HSK and Health Department Head, expressed her enthusiasm, stating that this new development is a milestone in securing skilled workers. HSK's Managing Director, Rungfa Saligmann, also emphasised the central importance of the project for the clinic and healthcare provision.
The apartments, designed as HSK staff apartments, will be reserved for employees of the nearby HSK. Ranging from one-room to six-room, they will be suitable for shared living. Each apartment will feature balconies, underfloor heating, and mechanical ventilation.
The project will employ a wood-hybrid construction method, combining sustainability with modern architecture. Heating will be provided by district heating, and the roofs will be greened and equipped with photovoltaic systems. Green outdoor spaces, a neighbourhood square, and a children's playground will also be created.
The press release for this project was published by the Press Office of the State Capital Wiesbaden. Angela Tausendpfund, CEO of EGW, granted GWW a sub-lease right for the HSK site, contributing to strengthening Wiesbaden as a health city.
The construction work is carried out by the general contractor B&O. The buildings will feature exterior and interior walls made of cross-laminated timber, prefabricated bathroom modules, staircases in solid construction, and reinforced concrete hollow-core slabs.
This project is expected to further improve the social infrastructure and attractiveness of Wiesbaden as a health city. Citizens can contact the responsible department or office with any questions regarding the project. The new staff apartments are a sign of urgently needed appreciation for nursing, medical-technical professions, and functional services.
