Event Celebrating the Afterlife Featuring Tartarus Purifiers, Bone-Ex, and Mortal Desires of Violence
The small town of Lalendorf, district of Rostock, will once again be the venue for an intriguing event, the "Scientia mortuorum" symposium, on August 30, 2025. This unique gathering, now in its 6th edition, brings together scientists who have dedicated their lives to the study of death. The event is organised by art historian Dr. Anja Kretschmer-Rodenbroker.
The day's program is packed with captivating presentations, lectures, and performances. For example, at 11 AM, geologist and archaeologist Alexander Benn, known as "Bone Hunter", will give an introduction to the science of bones. At 12:00 PM, Dr. Ströbl will present "The Crypt Keepers".
Criminal psychologist Lydia Benecke, who has been working with a focus on violent and sexual offenses since 2009, will deliver a thought-provoking lecture titled "Criminal Psychology of Sexual Homicidal Fantasies" from 7 PM to 8 PM. This lecture is rated 16+ and will be followed by "Death Comedy - The Best of 13 Years of Death" from 8:30 PM to 9:30 PM.
Other highlights include a lecture by Frances Giesbers, a Correctional Officer, titled "Death in Prison" at 2 PM, and a presentation by Karol Langnickel, a Crime Scene Cleaner, titled "All Gone with One Swipe" at 3 PM.
Visitors can also expect an exhibition of old hearses and the opportunity to meet with experts in the field of death. Dr. Marcus Schwarz, a forensic entomologist and one of only four in Germany, will share his expertise in "Death on the Wing" from 5:30 PM to 6:30 PM. Schwarz, the author of bestsellers such as "Death on the Wing" and "When Insects Walk Over Corpses", trains police officers and students.
The symposium will take place at the Herrenhaus Vogelsang in Lalendorf. For the most accurate and updated information about the participating experts, it is recommended to check the official event website or contact the organisers directly.
The event is not just about learning, though. Art, culture, and music are also part of the day's program. At 4 PM, Christoph Gilsbach will perform a pantomime titled "Life" in the basement. The day will conclude with "Death Comedy - The Best of 13 Years of Death" from 8:30 PM to 9:30 PM.
This promises to be an enlightening and entertaining event, shedding light on various aspects of death and the science surrounding it. Don't miss out on this unique opportunity to delve into the mysteries of death!
