ACEA and its Members Unite to Drive Europe Towards a Climate-Neutral Economy
The European Automobile Manufacturers’ Association (ACEA) and its members are taking decisive action to help tackle climate change, transforming themselves to contribute actively to Europe's green and digital transformation.
At a recent event, Oliver Zipse, ACEA President and CEO of BMW Group, underscored the industry's importance in this transition. He emphasized the need for a strong, globally competitive industrial base in Europe for a successful green and digital transformation.
Zipse also expressed confidence in the European auto industry's ability to assert itself globally and continue delivering. The industry, he stated, will actively contribute to Europe's green and digital transformation.
The ACEA members, which include Europe's 16 major car, truck, van, and bus manufacturers, are united under a common cause: to keep the world mobile in a sustainable, safe, smart, and inclusive way. This mission, dubbed "driving mobility for Europe" towards a climate-neutral economy, was highlighted as a key driver in Europe's transformation.
Sigrid de Vries, the new Director General of ACEA, reiterated this commitment. She emphasized that the automotive industry's transformation is a shared trajectory and committed to acting as a strong partner for policy makers, society, and all stakeholders. Her statement reaffirmed ACEA's and its members' dedication to being strong partners for various stakeholders.
The European Commission is also offering its support. Walter Goetz, Head of Cabinet of Transport Commissioner Adina Vălean, stated that the Commission is ready to support the automotive industry with adequate infrastructure for the purchase of electric or hydrogen cars and vehicles. The Commission's support is focused on easing the decision-making process for the purchase of electric or hydrogen vehicles.
Keynote speakers at the event discussed the role of the automotive industry in Europe's transition to a climate-neutral economy. Sigrid de Vries concluded that all ACEA members are bound by a crystal clear cause, and Zipse emphasized the need for a strong, globally competitive industrial base in Europe for a green and digital transformation.
The European auto industry plays a crucial role, providing approximately 13 million skilled jobs in the EU. With the industry's active contribution, Europe can strive towards a sustainable, digital future while ensuring economic strength.
