A new survey by online travel provider Expedia reveals a growing positive view towards all-inclusive vacations among Germans, with 21% having a more favourable opinion than a year ago. This shift in preference is particularly noticeable among the younger generation, with 30% of Generation Z (aged 18 to 29) expressing a better opinion of all-inclusive offers.

The appeal of all-inclusive vacations lies not only in the potential savings but also in the feeling of not having to worry about anything during the holiday. Susanne Dopp, spokesperson for Expedia, stated, "For many young people, the savings aspect is not the main focus; instead, the appeal lies in the feeling of not having to worry about anything during the holiday."

In the Mediterranean, demand for destinations like Zakynthos (+55%), Cyprus (+35%), and Sardinia (+25%) has significantly increased during the summer season. Similarly, Mauritius (+30%) and Zanzibar (+20%) show strong growth in interest for all-inclusive long-haul travel.

Classic Mediterranean destinations like Antalya, Dalaman, and Bodrum remain popular, topping the booking statistics for summer holidays. However, the younger target group is also showing a preference for more adventurous itineraries, with popular all-inclusive destinations including Mediterranean coastal areas, famous European cities such as Barcelona, Rome, and the Côte d’Azur, as well as multi-country European road trips covering highlights in London, Paris, San Sebastián, Monaco, the Cinque Terre, and Capri.

The all-inclusive concept offers a significant gain in comfort for 41% of Germans, and 42% appreciate the reduced organizational burden of all-inclusive travel. Almost half (44%) of Germans now prefer accommodations with full board, and 49% choose an all-inclusive hotel to avoid worrying about food on-site.

Despite the growing preference for all-inclusive vacations, specific data about changes in opinions towards all-inclusive vacations for any demographic groups in the mentioned Mediterranean destinations is not provided in this survey. Long-haul trips with all-inclusive options are seeing a significant increase in interest, with Cancún in Mexico experiencing a 65% increase in search queries compared to last year.

This shift towards all-inclusive vacations among Germans is a testament to the growing appeal of these holiday options, offering a sense of predictability, comfort, and reduced organizational burden for many travellers.
