In the picturesque vacation region of Lahn Valley, known for its enjoyment, hospitality, and lived regionality, three gastronomy businesses have been honoured with the prestigious Hessen State Award "Hesse à la Carte". The Wine House Schultes in Limburg, and the Justice in the Hessian Court in Gießen are among the recipients of this year's accolade.

The specialty of the Wine House Schultes lies in its seasonal cuisine, offering daily changing recommendations that reflect the best of Hessian and Mediterranean flavours. The menu, which primarily collaborates with regional producers and suppliers, boasts a range of dishes that showcase the region's bounty, from asparagus and mushrooms to game.

The Justice in the Hessian Court, located in the historic city of Gießen, is renowned for its homemade quality and traditional Hessian roots. Everything from ketchup to cream cheese is made with care, embodying the restaurant's commitment to sustainability and regional affiliation.

The quality check that these businesses undergo every three years evaluates factors such as the origin of the products, the culinary offer, and the gastronomic quality. Depending on the score, businesses are awarded 1, 2, or 3 Hessian state lions. This year, the Wine House Schultes, along with the Justice in the Hessian Court, received the highest honour of 3 Hessian state lions.

The Hesse à la Carte business managers, Gisbert J. Kern and Yvonne Heider, along with Hessian Minister for Economy, Energy, Transport, Housing and Rural Development, Kawheh Mansouri, presented the certificates to the successful businesses.

Philipp Borchardt, Managing Director of Lahn Valley Tourism Association e. V., highlighted the importance of authentic, regional dishes for tourists, stating that they play a crucial role in showcasing the unique charm of the region. Both the Wine House Schultes and the Justice in the Hessian Court exemplify this connection of culinary ambition, sustainability, and regional affiliation.

As the recipients of the Hessen State Award "Hesse à la Carte", these three gastronomy businesses stand as shining examples of Hessian culinary excellence, offering visitors a taste of the region's rich flavours and traditions.
