European textile manufacturing undergoes advancement, spearheaded by Citta

The Textile Technology Centre (Citta) is at the forefront of a significant research and development (R&D) project, called iTex, which is aimed at providing innovative solutions for the production systems of the Spanish textile sector. This project, part of the European Union's seventh framework program, focuses on improving production planning and optimization for textile companies.

The iTex project includes the development of software that will synergize with the planning systems currently used by textile companies. Notably, this software will feature a self-learning module based on artificial intelligence, designed to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of textile production processes.

Citta has submitted two additional proposals to the European Union, each focusing on different areas. One proposal centres on the development of software for textile companies' decision-making processes. The other proposal focuses on the exploitation of natural fibers for sustainable materials, with the aim of reducing the use of petroleum.

The sustainable materials project does not directly involve the iTex project's R&D focus on production planning and optimization. Meanwhile, the software development project in one of the additional proposals is distinct from the self-learning module in the iTex project.

In a collaborative effort, Citta is also working with the European Space Agency (ESA) on two additional projects belonging to the European Union program. The details of these projects have not been disclosed, but they are associated with Citta.

The iTex project is a collaboration aimed at providing innovative solutions for the Spanish textile sector's production systems. By leveraging advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence, the project promises to help textile companies plan and optimize their production systems more effectively, ultimately contributing to the sector's growth and sustainability.
