In a disappointing outing for Düsseldorf's ice hockey team, the DEG Midgets, they suffered a 10-2 defeat at the hands of Eisbären Berlin on Friday, February 14. The travelling Düsseldorf fans witnessed a one-sided goal-fest, with Berlin taking an early 4-0 lead before the first intermission.

The game started disastrously for Düsseldorf, as Ty Ronning scored for Berlin just 34 seconds into the match. Liam Kirk, Eric Hördler, and Frederik Tiffels followed suit, giving Berlin a commanding lead.

Alexander Blank and Laurin Braun scored two consolation goals for Düsseldorf, but it was too little, too late. The defeat did not affect Düsseldorf's position in the standings, as their direct competitor, the Iserlohn Roosters, also lost on the same day.

Steven Reinprecht, Düsseldorf's coach, made a late goalie change, replacing Henrik Haukeland with Nikita Quapp after the eighth goal against. However, the change did not seem to improve Düsseldorf's fortunes, as Korbinian Geibel, Lean Bergmann, Marcel Noebels, Ronny (last name not provided), Leo Pföderl, and Frederik Tiffels scored additional goals for Berlin.

Despite high ambitions going into the game, Düsseldorf did not perform well. After the game, Alex Blank, a Düsseldorf player, stated that the entire team played poorly.

Düsseldorf currently leads the table with a one-point advantage over both the Iserlohn Roosters and the Augsburger Panthers. The face-off for the Düsseldorf vs. Iserlohn game is scheduled for 7:30 PM on Friday, February 14. The Roosters lost 2:5 in Bremerhaven on the same day, which could potentially give Düsseldorf a boost in their upcoming match.
