The topic of suicide remains largely taboo in many societies. However, awareness saves lives, as talking about suicide lowers the barrier to seeking help. Suicide is among the leading causes of death in many age groups, particularly among young people. In Germany, approximately 28 people die by suicide daily, and in 2023, over 10,000 people died by suicide.

Many affected individuals had not received a confirmed diagnosis, help was sought too late, or access barriers were too high. It is crucial to break the silence and seek help early. If you or someone you know is struggling, please reach out to the resources available in Wiesbaden.

The Press Office of the State Capital Wiesbaden is the publisher of this press release, located at Schlossplatz 6, 65183 Wiesbaden, and can be contacted via their website. The Social Psychiatric Service (SpDi) and the Coordination of Community Psychiatry at the Health Department of Wiesbaden offer further help for people aged 18 and above. People with invisible disabilities, such as autism, ADHD, depression, FASD, or chronic neurological conditions, are often at particular risk. If you need assistance, do not hesitate to reach out.
